Hyderabad: A man was arrested by the Hyderabad Cyber Crime police for allegedly blackmailing a minor girl whom he met while playing PUBG and later collected her semi-clad photographs.
According to the police, Mohd Salman, a 21-year-old mechanic from Langer Houz got in touch with a minor girl around two months ago while playing PUBG.
“Salman collected the mobile phone number of the teenager and had conversation with the victim over phone and WhatsApp for few weeks. During the chat, Salman collected few semi-clad photographs of the girl. Later he started blackmailing the girl into sending more photographs and videos,” said KVM Prasad, ACP Cyber Crimes Hyderabad.
On a complaint filed by a family members of the victim, the Cyber Crime police registered a case against Salman and tracked him down on Saturday. He was arrested and remanded.
The police seized the mobile phone of Salman and found some more photographs of other girls. “We will seek his police remand and question him,” said the official.
The cybercrime police appealed to the women and girls not to befriend unknown person over social media platforms. “At the first instance itself they should avoid sending any photographs to any person whom they have met on social media platforms or even in person. If any women has been conned into sending the photographs they should immediately inform their family members and approach the police,” the police said.
