Hyderabad: The Miyapur police on Friday arrested a 21-year-old man, Zeeshan Moinuddin of Malakpet, who allegedly drugged and raped a 24-year-old woman, who was his friend.
According to the police, Moinuddin had become friends with the woman two years ago, and used to chat regularly on Facebook. Moinuddin, who allegedly ran his own drug peddling business in the city, slowly got her hooked to drugs, mostly marijuana and she allegedly became a regular client of his. Miyapur Inspector C Harishchandra Reddy said Moinuddin used to meet her very frequently to supply the stuff and that he had sexually assaulted her when she became unconscious after using the substance.
In the complaint given by the victim’s mother, it was stated that the woman got addicted to drugs only after she came into contact with Moinuddin. “He exploited her sexually by supplying ganja. He used to offer ganja by rolling it in cigarettes,” she told the police.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 376 (1) and arrested Moinuddin. The suspect has reportedly confessed his crime apart from revealing that he purchased marijuana from drug peddlers in Dhoolpet.
Meanwhile, police said the mental condition of the victim is seemingly unstable, following which she has been now recommended to undergo a medical examination. “She seems to be mentally ill and is behaving in a very unusual manner. It could be the impact of the drugs. We have asked for a medical examination,” police said.
