Siddipet: Man electrocuted, woman injured while installing flag pole

Siddipet: Telangana State Formation Day celebrations turned tragic for the resident of a village in Siddipet when one person died and another woman sustained serious injuries when they came in contact with a high tension overhead power line while installing a flag pole at Dommata village of Doulthabad Mandal on Tuesday.

The victim Ashok (41), husband of Anganwadi teacher and Kalavva (55), aaya of Anganwadi centre suffered serious burn injuries when the pole touched an overhead 11-KV electricity line.

Ashok succumbed to injuries while he was being shifted to Hyderabad while Kalavva, who suffered 40 per cent burn injuries is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

Responding quickly, Finance Minister T Harish Rao announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia from the government to the victim’s family members. Rao also assured to provide free treatment to Kalvavva until she recovers.
