Man held in Hyderabad for preparing fake education certificates

Hyderabad: The West Zone Task Force arrested one person on charges of preparing fake degree and postgraduate certificates of the Karnataka State Open University.

The arrested person, B. Laxmi Narayana alias Raj Kumar, a resident of Asif Nagar, runs a computer training institute, ‘TISHT’ at Tarnaka. According to the police, Raj Kumar opened the institute about 16 years ago but had run into losses from 2015. He then met M.Satyanarayana, chairman of ‘Hiworth Educations’ in Tarnaka. Satyanarayana was allegedly involved in preparing fake certificates and used to forge Karnataka State Open University within 45 days and deliver the same to customers, Task Force officials said.

Raj Kumar and Satyanarayana then joined hands, with Raj Kumar collecting the data of people in need of certificates and pass it on to Satyanarayana, who would in turn prepare the certificates.

“Raj Kumar sold a degree certificate for Rs.30,000 and a PG certificate for Rs.40,000. So far, he has sold certificates to about 80 persons,” officials said, adding that while Raj Kumar was handed over to the Osmania University police, efforts were on to nab Satyanarayana, who is absconding.
