Mahabubabad: While his love for a long moustache got a special recognition among his friends and relatives, it also helped him to perform rare feats. Yerraboina Komurelli, a lorry mechanic, is now aiming at setting a world record.
On Monday, he pulled a minibus for 100 metres with his moustache in the presence of Thorrur SI D Ramana Murthy on the premises of Aryabhatta Concept School in Thorrur in the district.
Komurelli, who hails from Harpirala in Thorrur division, has been staying in Thorrur for the last several years.
His longing for the long moustache had forced him to grow the moustache since 2000.
“I made my first attempt to create a record by lifting two one-kilogram iron weights and in 2012, I lifted LPG gas cylinders. Then, in 2014, I could pull a small (Maruti) car for half a kilometre,” he said adding that he had also pulled a Qualis vehicle in 2014 and also two cars in 2015 for 200 metres.
The confident looking Komurelli says he is practicing regularly to register his name in the Guinness World Records.
“I am planing to pull a bus or lorry soon. I will continue with my practice until the world record is achieved,” he added. Aryabhatta school correspondent Nelakurti Madhukar Reddy and other have congratulated Komurelli for his feat.
