Mancherial simmers at 44.8 degrees

The district has been seeing temperature ranging between 40 degree Celsius and 44 degree Celsius from the past few weeks, forcing people to remain indoors.

Mancherial: Mancherial district simmered with maximum temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. The district has been seeing temperature ranging between 40 degree Celsius and 44 degree Celsius from the past few weeks, forcing people to remain indoors.

Workers of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) were unable to extract coal from underground mines and open cast projects due to sweltering heat. They said that temperature was two degrees extra underground. The management of the coal giant supplied butter milk sachets to help miners cope with the heat.

Meanwhile, Kolluri Buchchamma (55) breathed her last while undergoing treatment in a Karimnagar’s hospital on Wednesday. She collapsed while working in an NREGS programme at Dharmaraopet village in Dandepalli mandal on Monday. Her relatives said that she died due to sunstroke.

The district recorded maximum temperature of 45.6 degree Celsius on May 7,  44 degree Celsius on Tuesday and 43 degrees on Monday.

Meanwhile, Adilabad district witnessed maximum temperature of 44.6 degree Celsius on Wednesday. Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad saw 43.4 degree Celsius and 43.2 degree Celsius, respectively.

Motorists can be seen driving with face covered with cotton towels.
