Hyderabad: Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Friday launched a Rs 5 meal centre in the Cherlapally division of Kapra circle.

The Mayor, who said that the centres are coming in handy for low income groups, pointed out that around 15,000 poor people are relishing hygienic and tasty meals at the centres every day.

“The government is planning 50 more centres and will eventually increase them to 150 centres across the city. The GHMC will have to bear an additional burden of Rs 30 crore this financial year,” he said.

The municipal corporation, he added, was focusing on ensuring basic amenities to citizens, for which model markets, double bedroom houses, gymnasiums and e-libraries are being established in the city.
