Medaram Jatara fetches over Rs 10 cr revenue

Warangal: The Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara has fetched Rs 10,17,50,363 in revenue to the Endowments Department through the Hundis.

The income earned this time is Rs 1.26 crore more than that of the previous jatara (2016) in which Rs 8.91 crore was earned by the department.

While the counting of hundis began at TTD Kalyanamandapam in Hanamkonda on February 6 and ended on Monday evening.

According to temple executive officer T Ramesh Babu, 824 grams of gold and 47.47 kg of silver ornaments were also offered by devotees, and foreign currency belonging to 32 countries was also found in the hundis.

The foreign currency will be sent to the Reserve Bank of India, which will pay the equivalent amount of Indian currency to the department.
