Only with less than half-a-dozen movies in Telugu, actor Mehreen Pirzada has owned the language more than her contemporaries in the glamour field who might falter in speaking it. Although she dubbed for herself for the role Honey in F2: Fun and Frustration, Mehreen did not take a chance for the character Nandu in the upcoming family drama Entha Manchivadavuraa as it demanded more strength and authenticity.
Mehreen is playing role of a producer in the movie while Kalyan Ram is the hero in the movie where they get into the mode of moviemaking. “I have four emotional scenes which are very important to the whole film. And fun sequences and other drama will surely entertain audience. Fans will get to see Mehreen as a different woman through this film. I have been dreaming to have something like Sankranti release and now it is happening. I want my fans to call me ‘Pongal heroine’. The movie is a mixture of emotion, drama, family love,” says Mehreen, adding that the role Nandu has given her a good screen space compared to all her previous movies.
Adding that her strength is playing comedy and emotional characters to her potential, Mehreen said she waited for five months after the movie F2 to get right character of her preferences in Telugu. “Playing the character Honey was very easy since I am Honey on and off the screen. The whole 2018 and 19 were the years I had enjoyed playing my own inner character on the screen. But this Satish Vegesna directorial has something different and challenging. Nevertheless, in the end, we are here to dish out what audiences like. No one works for a flop film; a lot of hard work goes into making a movie till the final output arrives. It is the kind of feeling that you live in. Failures do affect actors, but one should be sorted to be optimistic and put right foot forward,” the actor says.
Mehreen is elated to see her brother Gurfateh Singh Pirzada who is being launched by Karan Johar in Bollywood. The Punjabi actor has done a couple of Punjabi movies too. “Yeah, it is my mother tongue. It was after F2 that I happened to collaborate with one of the biggest movie production houses in Punjab. I had something to finish in my checklist. Everyone in my family, including my grandparents, has been watching my Telugu movies. But they wanted me to do something in Punjabi,” she says.
About the report that she was first offered the female lead role in Mahesh Babu-starrer Sarileru Neek she said, “It was a rumour. I wish I had the offer, but it was not true. Yeah, I have a wish to do a movie with the Superstar,” she smiles.
Mehreen says it is a triple celebration this festive season as she has two movies lined up for releases apart from Entha Manchivadavuraa. “I am excited about Tamil movie Pattas starring Dhanush. Another movie in Telugu Ashwathama is releasing on January 30,” she concludes.
