Mahabubabad: In a shocking incident, a four-month old baby boy died after his mother hurled him down a bridge near Bayyaram village in the district on Thursday. The woman also tried to jump off the bridge, but she was prevented from doing so.
According to the sources, Gangaraboina Saritha, wife of Suresh, of Banjara thanda of Mungimadugu village in Narsimhulupet mandal, was going to their village along with her husband and other relatives in an autorickshaw after performing some puja at Sammakka and other deities at Kattugudem village in Bayyaram mandal. When the autorickshaw reached the bridge near Bayyaram, Saritha asked the driver to stop the auto.
When the auto stopped, she stepped out with the infant and suddenly threw him into the stream, and she herself tried to jump into the stream. But the autorickshaw driver prevented her from jumping. It is said that they went to their village with the body of the boy.
Saritha was reportedly suffering from some mental illness for the last several days. Meanwhile, Bayyaram CI Ramesh stated that they had not received any complaint about the incident, said they would inquire into the incident.
