MEO caught accepting bribe in Jangaon

Jangaon: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught a Mandal Education Officer (MEO) red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a government school head master at his office on Monday. According to ACB DSP S Pratap, the accused Muthaiah had been harassing Maddikunta Krishna Reddy, the school headmaster at Nagireddipally of Bachannapet mandal after he went on an unauthorized leave for three days.

While the MEO demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 for not to complain to the higher officials about his unauthourised leave, the victim agreed to offer Rs 10,000 as a bribe. Then the HM approached the ACB officials and apprised them of the matter and later, the sleuths laid a trap and caught the MEO red-handed at his office. He will be produced before the special ACB court, they said.
