Mixed fortunes for Pranjala in Colombo

Hyderabad: Second seed Yadlapalli Pranjala had mixed fortunes in the ITF women’s $15,000 tennis tournament in Colombo on Saturday.

The Hyderabad girl won the doubles title but lost in the singles final to Kazakhstan’s Ainitdinova Gozal 5-7, 4-6.

Pranjala gave a tough fight to the top seed player in the women’s singles final before succumbing to the superior Kazakhstan player.

However in the doubles, Pranjala and Rutuja Bhosale defeated another Indian pair of Palha Natasha and Sunkara Rishika 6-1, 6-1 in the final.
