MLC polls: Last date for voters enrolment is November 6

Karimnagar: The last date for enroling as a voter for election to the Member of Legislative Council from the graduates and Teachers constituency is November 6, district Collector Sarfaraz Ahmed said. Notification for Karimnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad and Medak districts graduates and teachers constituency was released on October 1. The term of the current MLCs will be completed on March 29, 2019.

Speaking on the occasion, the district Collector appealed the eligible persons to enrol their names in voter list to exercise their franchise. For Graduates’ constituency, people must have completed graduation three years before the release of notification. Citizens can submit their application (form-18) along with degree certificate, a colour passport size photo and attestation by a gazetted office at RDO or Tahasildhars offices.

In Teachers’ Constituency case, a person shall be entitled to be registered as an elector if he/her has been engaged in teaching at least three years in between 2012 to 2018. They can submit their applications (form-19) to RDOs or Tahasildhars or MPDOs or MEOs.

The Collector further made it clear that that bulk applications would not be accepted. Applications of an institution referred by the head of that institution would be accepted. At the same time, applications of a single family would also be permitted at a time. In 2012 elections, 324 polling stations were arranged for 1.54 lakh graduates and 19,771 teacher constituency voters.
