Mobile phones worth over Rs 5 lakh recovered from thief

The accused was previously involved in property offences along with his friend Shaik Ahmed alias Lalu and was arrested.

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force (West) on Saturday caught a mobile phone thief Faiyazullah Khan alias Fayaz, of Kishanbagh and recovered 35 mobile phones worth over Rs 5 lakh from him.

Acting on a tip off, the team caught Fayaz from Jagadish Market in Abids when he came to sell the stolen mobile phones.

P Radha Kishan Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force said the man was previously involved in property offences along with his friend Shaik Ahmed alias Lalu and was arrested. He was detained under the PD Act in March last year as well. After his release in April last, Fayaz started selling ginger and garlic in Hyderabad in an auto-rickshaw.

“As his earnings were not sufficient, he resumed his criminal activities. In December last year, the man broke into the Big C mobile showroom under the Ramachandrapuram police limits and stole 35 mobile phones,” the DCP said.

Fayaz, along with the recovered goods, was handed over to the Ramachandrapuram police for further action.
