The moment we talk about the audio of Baahubali: The Beginning, the first song that comes to our mind is Manohari. The song has taken the career of singers Revanth and Mohana Bhogaraju a notch higher. On being chosen to sing Manohari, Mohana says that she will always be thankful to music director MM Keeravani.
In this exclusive interview, the young singer shares details about herself, career plans and dreams.
“I was born and brought up in Hyderabad. I pursued engineering and I’m happily married now. My father works in the Secretariat; mother is a retired headmistress and husband works for an MNC. Music is my only focus now and I think my path towards becoming a good singer is still being laid with care and love,” says Mohana.
She made her debut in the Telugu film industry with Jai Shri Ram, an Uday Kiran-starrer. She has taken a break after that to pursue a course in music and later approached MM Keeravani to give audition.
“Keeravani sir roped me in to sing Manohari and my life has changed after the opportunity. It will always be the best of all my songs. Till then, I never had a special page on social media. With the way I was receiving applause from all quarters, my friends insisted that I have an account on social media and that was when people came to know how I look. For every song that I sing now, people message me if they like it and also frankly tell me that I can do much better. I am thankful to all of them,” she adds.
Mohana Bhogaraju is in a happy place now as she’s doing phenomenally well. She sang more than 70 songs so far of which around 50 are very popular. She also runs a YouTube channel in her name and has recently recorded a Sufi version of popular song Dama Dam Mast Kalandar for which she got a lot of praise. In this field where there is a lot of competition, Mohana says that nothing affects her or comes in the way of her dedication for the work she does. “I believe that I should just keep doing my work. I will be recording the song I’m approached for and keep working on offers that come my way. If I am not worth it, it would obviously not come to me,” says the singer who has two recent hits from Na Peru Surya and Rajugadu.
Mohana has been singing for Telugu, Tamil and Kannada languages till now. She has two more projects in her kitty and is gearing up for more.
