Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police on Friday arrested former Mojo TV CEO Revathi Pogadadanda in connection with a case under Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 registered in January.
The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by a person who allegedly faced humiliation during a discussion on the channel on women’s entry into the Sabarimala temple.
A police team reached her house on Saturday morning and took her into custody. She was later taken to the Banjara Hills police station and questioned before the police recorded the arrest. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Banjara Hills) A Srinivasa Rao said the police had served two written notices and also called her asking to come to the police station. However she had not responded, which was why she was arrested, he said.
The police said during a discussion on the Sabarimala issue, Revathi was moderating the discussion along with another anchor, Raghu, when the latter got into a heated argument with a guest, Varaprasad. After leaving the show, Varaprasad lodged a complaint against Raghu and Revathi alleging that he was insulted in the name of his caste.
