Monsoon

Copious rains don’t always translate to dreary days and gloomy nights spent curled up in a ball. The monsoon can also mean lush greenery, innumerable waterfalls, chilly breezes and an inimitably radiant landscape in general. So, let’s put on our adventure hats and head for a long drive, monsoon trek or an impromptu vacation. Here’s a list of destinations you can visit, to herald the monsoon with a piping hot cup of tea and some crunchy pakoras.

Sula Vineyards, Nashik
Surrounded by a lake and rolling hills carpetted with thriving greenery, it is the perfect dreamy retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life. And wines and ambiance are the cherry on the icing. You can spend hours just sipping wine, savouring mushroom stroganoff topped with herbed rice; with light music playing in the background and gazing out at the vast expanse of vineyards spread out in front of you.

Goa
The lush tropical vibe in Goa during the monsoon is unbeatable. You can dig into your fish curry with rainbows resplendent in the horizon. You can rent a vehicle and enjoy a drive down the winding roads and splash about in the little rock pools at the beach. Visit the exotic Mollen National Park, which is also home to the famous Dudhsagar falls.

Alappuzha, Kerala
The swaying greenery, throbbing with vigour will never tire you. Enjoy the backwater feels at its best, exploring the topography with a stay in a houseboat. Indulge in authentic appams with a stew, chunks of chicken or meat bathed in rich coconut gravy; washed down with rice wine. The palm fringed beaches tinged with a silvery mist offer the perfect scenery for your getaway.
