Mulugu man held for bid to rejoin Maoists

Venakatapur police nabbed him when he was going to join the banned outfit again on Monday evening.

Mulugu: The Venkatapur (Nugur) police arrested a former member of the outlawed Maoist party when he was going to rejoin the outfit on Monday. The arrested was Mussaki Ungaiah of Chelimela village in Mulugu.

Addressing the press meet at Eturungaram on Tuesday, ASP Sharathchandra Pawar said: “Ungaiah joined the CPI Maoist as a dalam member in 2016 and worked as a guard to Khammam DCS Koyyada Sambaiah alias Gopanna. He was involved in several unlawful activities.” The ASP added that Ungaiah, however, left the party in 2017 and worked as the labourer in Hyderabad for two years.

Later, he went to Bhadrachalam area and married a woman. “However, the Venakatapur police nabbed him when he was going to join the banned outfit again on Monday evening. He was moving suspiciously during the vehicle a check-up taken up by the police,” the ASP said and added that he would be produced before a court on Tuesday.

Trainee IPS officer Gaush Alam, CRPF commander Sithamma, Venkatapur CI Shivaprasad and SI G Tirupathi were present at the press meet.
