Hyderabad: The Kushaiguda police on Thursday launched a search for an unidentified suspect who allegedly attempted to kill a 72-year-old advocate at his residence in Kushaiguda, here.
The incident took place late on Wednesday night when the advocate, B Gopal Reddy, a practicing lawyer with the Ranga Reddy District Court and Malkajgiri Court, was at home. At around 11 pm, an unidentified person in the guise of a client consulted Reddy, and they went upstairs to Reddy’s office.
“While talking to Reddy, the suspect said he was sent by a person named Anji Reddy. A few minutes later, Reddy began screaming for help hearing which his wife rushed up and found him with injuries on his throat, following which he was shifted to a private hospital nearby. His condition is stated to be normal now,” said K Chandrashekhar, Inspector, Kushaiguda.
The suspect had demanded money and gold ornaments, and when Reddy refused, he slit his throat with a knife, the Inspector said.
Based on a complaint, police have registered a case and are investigating.
