Hyderabad: The regional office of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) organised a workshop to discuss dairy and livestock schemes. Cases under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) were discussed and approved by the State Level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (SLSMC). The workshop was held under the guidance of Special Chief Secretary Suresh Chanda and Animal Husbandry Director Dr D Venkateswarlu.
Bankers were advised to accelerate financing under the Dairy Entrepreneurship Development (DED) and NLM schemes. There is great scope for these sectors in Telangana, which ultimately leads to employment and income generation for small farmers, officers at the workshop explained. About Rs 7 crore was available in subsidies for Telangana under the NLM scheme, the bankers were told.
