Naidu assures to complete Polavaram project by 2019

CM launched project spillway gallery walk at a length of one km on Wednesday along with Ministers, MLAs and MLCs indicating the completion of the project as per schedule.

Polavaram: Reaffirming his commitment to complete the Polavaram project as per schedule, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday made it clear that the water would be released through gravity from Polavaram project by 2019.

If only the Central government extended cooperation, the project could have been completed much early, he remarked and sought the Centre’s cooperation to complete the project, also national project, as per schedule.

CM launched project spillway gallery walk at a length of one km on Wednesday along with Ministers, MLAs and MLCs indicating the completion of the project as per schedule. He said that he visited the project site personally for the 27th time on the day and conducted virtual review of the project works as many as 76 times to speed up the works.

Describing the gallery walk as a critical milestone in project works the Chief Minister said that the construction of diaphragm wall was also completed in a record time. He said the State government spent Rs 14,600 cr on the project so far.

The CM said that the Polavaram project spill way had set a record as highest spillway in the world and the project would set major number of world records in regard to its completion in short time. He condemned the mudslinging activities of opposition parties instead of extending cooperation for early completion of the project.

He stressed the need for participation of every one including children and added that everyone should know the importance of the project, which is a lifeline of Andhra Pradesh.
