Nalgonda: Nalgonda police on Wednesday arrested a 15-member gang of cyber criminals who were hacking the Facebook accounts of the police officers and make money by sending requests for money to the persons in their friends lists, at Barkathpura areas in Rajasthan.
The gang members also hacked the Facebook account of Superintendent of Police, Nalgonda, A V Ranganath.
According to the police involved in the operation, the police team of Nalgonda on Wednesday conducted raids and search in the houses of 15 youths at Barkathpura village which located 4 km away from the border of Haryana and Rajasthan States.
It is learnt that the police seized thousands of SIM cards from their possession. The police officials were also surprised after knowing that all the cyber criminals studied up to Class VIII only, but were earning Rs 50,000 per month with the type of cyber crimes. They hacked the Facebook accounts of more than 100 police officers in Telangana State. They also reportedly hacked the social networking accounts of police officials of Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Odisha.
The district police are on the process to bring the arrested cyber criminals to Nalgonda. The police also identified the person who hacked the Facebook of Nalgonda SP.
