Nalgonda: Vice Chancellor of Mahathama Gandhi University (MGU) Prof. Khaja Althaf Hussein on Tuesday informed that Skill Development Centre would be setup soon in university premises.

Speaking at a meeting organised with the Correspondents and Principals of affiliated degree colleges in the university, the Vice Chancellor said there was a need to focus on development of skills in youth in tune with the requirement of the job market.

The Skill Development Centre would provide training to youth as per skills required for the jobs available in the area.

He told that the teaching staff of private and government degree colleges must attend the valuation of the examinations as per instructions of the university. Absenting for the evaluation of examination papers by teaching staff would adversely impact interests of students by delaying release of results.

He added that managements of the affiliated colleges should implement bio-metric attendance system to register the attendance of the students. The university affiliation would be cancelled for those colleges which would not implement bio-metric attendance system.

He said students’ attendance system would be linked online to Social Welfare Office and students who will have less than 75 per cent of attendance would lose the opportunity of scholarships.

He directed the management of degree colleges to maintain records properly on the details of the students and their courses. The private colleges should maintain labs and libraries as per the rules for the benefit of the students, he added.

Director of Admissions Dr Alval ravi, Controller of the Examinations Dr M Ramesh and others also attended the meeting.
