Hyderabad: The 14th edition of the Meco Motorsports FMSCI National Rotax Max Championship will kick off at the Chicane Circuit in city on Saturday.
The tournament will feature over 140 young racers from India and abroad. Defending champion and BPC racing’s Manav Sharma will be the one to look out for in the senior max category. However, the Faridabad racer will face stiff competition from the likes of Chennai’s Nirmal Umashankar and Sreyas Jain. The Meco Racing star Nirmal finished runner-up last year and will be hoping for a turn of fortunes this time around.
The racers will take part in one qualifying race, two heats, one pre-final and final during the course of the event.
“The new fuel regulations and cylinder control norms have made the competition even tighter, with lap times of top drivers improving dramatically,” said FMSCI president Akbar Ebrahim ahead of the upcoming championship.
“The FMSCI has also involved the Technical Commission and their delegates will oversee the scrutiny to ensure a level playing field for all,” he added.
