National shooter among 5 held for killing deers in Sangareddy

The accused who were arrested for poaching spotted deer

Sangareddy: Five poachers, including a member of National Rifle Association, were arrested for killing three Spotted Deers at Audatpur of Nagulgidda Mandal in Sangareddy district on Monday. The shooter, Mohammad Shakir, a native of Gulbarga in Karnataka, along with two of his friends from Gulbarga and two others from Hyderabad killed the deers and skinned them.

While they were cutting them into pieces, Nagulgidda Police reached the spot following a tip-off from the locals. The police seized a licenced sporting rifle 30.06, which is meant for use in shooting competitions, knives, a Scorpio vehicle and other material from the accused. Shakir also represented Kalburgi in national shooting championships. Shakir, Md Niyaz, Md Nazar are residents of Kalburgi while Md Mukram and Md Muneer are natives of Toli Chowki in Hyderabad.

All five were taken into custody. The case was later handed over to the Forest officials of Sangareddy district. Forest officials led by DFO, Sangareddy, K Venkateshwarlu and FRO, Narayankhed, Devilal are inquiring into the incident. The police and forest officials will produce the accused before a court in Narayankhed on Tuesday.
