Sangareddy: The construction of a state-of-the-art campus of Model Social Welfare Residential School at Jukkal village near Narayanakhed was completed by the State government on Saturday. The school is touted to be a model for other residential schools in the State which would be constructed in the coming years.
The Government has granted Rs 13 crore for construction of a separate three-storied building for the hostel and school. There will also be staff quarters, separate residence for the principal, a kitchen, and other buildings. The construction was taken up on a spacious 5 acre land.
The three-storied school building will have 16 classrooms, four rooms for Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology labs, one room each for library, computer lab, principal’ room, record room, PET room, common office room and medical room. Another three-storied building in the same premises will have 34 rooms. While 32 of them will be given for accommodation of students, the rest two would be allotted to the warden and medical room. A modern kitchen and dining hall were also constructed.
The principal of the Social Welfare Residential School, Papa Rao, said that the children are suffering due to lack of sufficient facilities at the existing building. He said that the new structure is as good as any corporate school in the cities. Rao observed that better infrastructure facilities will certainly attract more students to government institutions in coming years.
Mark Infrastructure Private Limited has bagged the contract from Telangana Education and Welfare Infrastructural Development Corporation and completed the project a month ahead of the deadline. Telangana Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Assistant Engineer Anji Reddy said that there will be no interruption of power supply as the government is going to equip the campus with a generator.
Meanwhile, the construction of a new building for Model Government Degree College in Naryanakhed has also been completed. The State government spent Rs 12 crore on a two-storied building of the college, with separate hostels for boys and girls. Construction of another building is underway which will have a girls’ and boys’ hostel. Joint Collector Vasam Venkateshwarlu said that they will complete the construction of the girls’ hostel in a month while the boys’ hostel will be completed by the beginning of 2017-18.
The two-acre campus will have ultra-modern facilities like library, computer lab, sports ground, gym and many others. Until 2009, there was no degree college in Naranakhed Assembly Constituency. After the TRS government came to power, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao granted Rs 12 crore to construct a residential campus for the degree college. The government also granted funds for two other model degree colleges at Yellareddy in Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar district.
Narayanakhed, MLA, M.Bhupal Reddy thanked the Chief Minister for granting funds on priority for construction of a model residential school and a degree college to his Constituency, which is one of the most backward areas in Telangana. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiym Srihari and Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao and others are expected to inaugurate the school and college on Monday.
