Hyderabad: The State Drug Control Administration (DCA) has released detailed guidelines and regulatory requirements for companies who are wishing to start manufacturing hand sanitisers in the State.

The decision to release regulatory guidelines comes in the wake of huge demand for hand sanitisers during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in Hyderabad. There are also clear signs that it may take longer than expected for the country to get rid of SARS-CoV-2 and in this context, DCA officials said that sanitisers now have become a part of the daily lives and an efficient way to break transmission chains of the coronavirus.

With the rise in applicants approaching the DCA for permissions to start manufacturing sanitisers at their units, the regulatory body has released regulatory frameworks that cover all the aspects of the sanitizers. According to DCA officials, already over 80 companies from the State have approached the authorities, seeking permission to start such facilities.

The DCA authorities said that production and storage facilities of hand sanitisers should be air-conditioned or cool rooms are needed to be setup. The interested companies, apart from securing permission from DCA, must also get due permission from municipal authorities in urban cities and Panchayat authorities in rural areas, apart from a consent from TS Pollution Control Board. Details on guidelines can be had from: dca.telangana.gov.in.
