New Zealand mosque attack victim buried in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The funeral of Uzair Khadir, who was killed in the Al Noor mosque attack at Christchurch in New Zealand, was held in the city on Sunday.

Ozair, was among the three persons from Telangana who were killed in the shooting at the mosque early this month. The other two persons, Farhaj Ahsan of Tolichowki and Mohd Imran of Karimnagar, were buried in New Zealand.

A resident of Noor Khan Bazaar in the old city, Ozair was pursuing a course in Aviation at a college in Christchurch. He had gone for prayers when he was killed in the shooting that resulted in death of 50 persons who hailed from various parts of the globe.

The body of Ozair was brought to the city by his brother who is a pilot with an airliner, in the early hours of Sunday. In the afternoon, the body was taken to Jamia Masjid in Darulshifa where the final prayers were held.

Home Minister Mohd Mahmood Ali, Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan, MLC, Riyaz Hussain Effandi, GHMC Deputy Mayor Baba Fasiuddin and Chairman Haj Committee of Telangana, Masiullah Khan attended the prayers.

Relatives, friends and neighbours in large numbers participated in the funeral procession and the prayers. The burial was later held at a graveyard in Dabeerpura.
