Nine-member dacoity gang caught in Hyderabad

Amongst those caught were five persons with previous criminal records including murder, counterfeit currency and property offences.

Hyderabad: A 9-member dacoit gang involved in a property offence at Shahalibanda in old city was caught by the Commissioner’s Task Force (South) team on Monday.

Amongst those caught were five persons with previous criminal records including murder, counterfeit currency and property offences.

The accused persons were identified as Mohd Nizamuddin (34), of Qazipura, previously arrested in adulteration of edible oil case, Mohd Asif (24), of Qazipura involved in robbery case, Shaik Khaled, of Falaknuma, previous involved in counterfeit currency case, Mohd Javeed Khan alias Javeed (29), a history sheeter of Falaknuma involved in 11 cases, Mohd Amjad (28) of Falaknuma, involved previously in murder case, Mohd Mukkaram Ahmed (32) of Misrigunj, Mohd Salman, Syed Jilani and a juvenile.

According to the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, the prime accused Nizam had conspired to commit dacoity, as he was without any job for the past eight months and was desperate for money. With the help of a juvenile, who previously worked in the jewellery store, he planned the dacoity by roping in other associates.

On Wednesday night, the gang snatched a bag containing 11 kilograms of silver ornaments from one Azhar, a businessman from Shahalibanda after attacking him. “Nizam had divided his associates into three teams and basing on leads provided by the juvenile directed his team to snatch the property bag. After snatching the bag, the gang members divided the property,” said Commissioner, Anjani Kumar.

The Commissioner’s Task Force team led by Additional DCP S Chaitanya Kumar tracked down the offenders and caught them on Monday. The entire property was recovered from them.
