Warangal Urban: In a generous act, around 4,000 students of the prestigious National Institute of Technology, Warangal, (NITW), have donated Rs. 23,76,840 to the PM CARES Fund.

The students authorised the hostel management to deduct an amount equivalent to one week’s mess bill, which is around Rs 581 (Rs. 83 per day) for each student. Even though the Institute is on summer vacation and most of the students are away from the Institute, they volunteered to contribute their mite to the fund.  It may be recalled that the faculty, staff and pensioners had earlier contributed one day salary/pension to the fund. In addition, the alumni of the Institute had separately contributed around Rs. 6.5 lakhs to the fund.

Institute Director Prof NV Ramana Rao said the efforts of the Institute will be to contribute around Rs. 50 lakhs altogether. He thanked all the contributors for their support and hoped that the country will wade through these troubled times by following all preventive measures using technological solutions.
