Nizambad’s Geeravani punches her way to gold in boxing tournament

Hyderabad: Nizamabad district girl Geeravani lifted the gold in the 48-50kg category defeating Vemula Jyothi of Nalgonda in the final at the first Junior Telangana State championship for girls at the Boxing Hall at LB Stadium on Saturday.

In the 50-52kg category final, Karimnagar’s S Sangeeth defeated K Fathima of Nalgond for the top honours.

State team for nationals
Hyderabad’s Dharma Goud, Md Mosin and SD Michel made it to the State senior team that will compete in the 2nd Elite Men National Boxing championship from October 24 to 30 at Visakhapatnam. These boxers were selected after the inter-district boxing championship for senior men at the LB Stadium on October 14 and 15.
