Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has said no other State in the country is extending financial aid to perform the marriage of women from the economically weaker sections.
Addressing the beneficiaries after distributing Kalayna Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak cheques in Dubbak on Tuesday, the Minister said none of the 18 States, where the BJP is ruling, was implementing such a scheme.
Elaborating on various development and welfare schemes initiated by the State government, Harish said Kalyana Lakshmi, which was extended to over 7 lakh women, had been providing great relief to parents to marry off their daughters. It is because Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao understands the hardships of parents that he had conceived KCR Kits scheme to encourage people to visit government hospitals for delivery.
Harish said, traditionally, women’s parents bear the expenses of the first delivery and that the scheme had freed them from such burden now. Stating that the government had put in a lot of efforts to ensure beedi workers lead a peaceful life, Harish said Telangana had become the first State in the country to extend pension to them.
He said the works of distributary canals of the Kaleshwaram Lift irrigation scheme would be completed by June and that the government would bring every acre under irrigation in the Dubbak constituency.
