Hyderabad: Congress party leaders from Chevella Lok Sabha constituency on Thursday declared that their party was not worried about desertions from its ranks. They also said it will be Congress and not TRS, that will win from Chevella in the coming Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to reporters, Rohit Reddy, Congress MLA from Tandur accused Telangana Rashtra Samiti of coercing his party leaders to join the ruling party. “The TRS and Chief Minister may be able to do so with a few people but as a party, we are strong and will not tolerate any attempts to intimidate our workers and force them to join TRS,” he said.
The press meet was held in the wake of Congress MLA from Maheshwaram Sabitha Indra Reddy and her son Karthik Reddy, meeting with TRS president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday. The two Congress leaders are expected to join the TRS soon.
He said his party and cadres will ensure the victory of Congress candidate Konda Vishweshwar Reddy from Chevella in the Lok Sabha elections. It may be recalled that Vishweshwar Reddy had quit TRS and joined Congress party before the Assembly elections in December. Among those who addressed the media were Ranga Reddy district Congress president Narasimha Reddy, former MLAs Parigi Ram Mohan Reddy, K Lakshma Reddy and KS Ratnam. They said Sabitha Indra Reddy’s decision to leave the Congress will not affect their party.
