Hyderabad: They varied from a few hundreds to a couple of thousands or a little more. And for reasons they carried home from the polling station, as many as 2,24,709 of them chose to make it clear that not a single candidate, whether from the 42 who contested from Malkajgiri or the six from Banswada did not fit the bill as far as these voters were concerned.
The Election Commission of India found that in all 1.1 per cent of voters chose to exercise the None Of The Above (Nota) option when casting their ballot in the December 7 election in the State.
In Malkajgiri, a total of 3,391 people cast the Nota vote, while in Banswada, this number was 1,555 votes.
The fewest Nota votes were cast in Aswaraopet constituency in Khammam district with only 205 voters choosing this option, while the highest number of Nota votes were cast in Serilingampally constituency, which witnessed as many as 29 candidates in the fray. In the city, the lowest number of Nota votes were cast in Charminar constituency.
