Notorious temple thief nabbed in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam: A notorious criminal, known to commit thefts in famous temples, was nabbed by city police on Saturday morning.

Producing the accused, Santosh Kumar Das alias Prakash Kumar Sahu of Bhilai from Chhattisgarh in front of the media, DCP Ravikumar Murthy said that Sahu had earlier committed thefts in Sri Kanakadurga temple of Vijayawada, Arasavilli Sri Suryanarayana temple in Srikakulam and Sri Venkateswara temple in Vizianagaram in 1998 and also served in prison for two years in connection with the Sri Kanakadurga temple offence. After he was released, he committed another theft in 2011 near Jain temple museum in Bangalore.

On Saturday, he was seen waiting in old city with silver ware for the buyer who did not show up. Police picked him and recovered from his possession 17 kg of silver war
