Oh those hilly terrains, deep valleys, breathtaking landscapes, terrifying steeps and mountain passes — riding on your dream bike would surely quench your soul’s thirst. But pandemic is forcing riders to remain indoors this monsoon, which is otherwise a season for bike riders to explore the world on motorbikes.

However, motorcycle enthusiast and YouTuber Sriman Kotaru, with over 2.8 lakh fan base, is making the most out of the lockdown with whatever he could. With restrictions in place, bikers are not allowed to cross State borders in the country. It came as a blessing in disguise for Sriman as he recently took out his Triumph Tiger 800 to visit Sri Rama Sagar Project and later Vikarabad forests.

“It is advisable for riders to plan short trips to lakes and hillocks, say 150 kms. Also plan to carry food and water as it may get difficult to depend on people outside,” he says.

From a civil construction contractor to a non-edible oil business dealer, Sriman explored different fields to make a career for a living. “But it was in Google where a lot of things in life have changed. Not because of the job, but because of Pooja whom I met and we both decided to marry,” he smiles.

But the job in Google too wasn’t long-lasting as too many ideas to become an entrepreneur made him restless. “Later, I wanted to float a startup, a fancy-looking e-commerce website which helps people to rent their products. But I faltered when it came to putting the idea into implementation and lost money. I got into a couple other jobs, but finally made up my mind to tell my wife Pooja that I wanted to quit all and become a YouTuber, ride bikes,” Sriman says.

Starting in November 2016, Sriman has so far made 429 videos — usually covering frequent trips and long-distance rides to Ladakh and to the borders of China and Bhutan. But lockdown prompted him to devise videos on various things drifting away from the routine vlogs. Apart from the routine and usual stuff of motorcycles, Sriman has been posting videos like hands-on-experience on an electric car, how to earn money through YouTube, smart investment techniques and tips, making money through travelling, checking accessories and other paraphernalia on motorcycles. For any official meetups or bike launches associating Sriman his fans swarm the event. “It makes me so special and thrilled to have people attending such gatherings. It really gives me a high to inspire so many youngsters through my channel,” he signs off.
