Officials told to expedite Mission Bhagiratha works

Out of 362-km inter-village pipeline works, only 192 km works were completed, says Nizamabad Collector.

Nizamabad: Rural Water Supply Department officials should speed up Mission Bhagiratha works to complete it before May 31 to provide safe drinking water to the each and every household of the district, said Nizamabad Collector Yogita Rana.

Rana conducted the review meeting with officials on Mission Bhagiratha works at her chamber and said that the State government had decided to supply safe drinking water to each and every household in the State by December 31, 2017. Due to the tight deadline, Rural Water Supply and other department officials should complete the works by May 31, 2017, she added.

Rana said as part of the works a 70-km pipeline between Jalalpoor-Argul and Argul-Indalwai would be built. Out of the 70 km, only 29 km pipeline works were completed and another 41 km should be completed soon, she said.

The Collector said that out of 362-km inter-village pipeline works, only 192 km works were completed and another 170 km pipeline works should be completed before May 31 and officials should use more machines and labour to speed up the works, Rana added.

The Collector directed Rural Water Supply Department Superintendent Engineer to use local contractors and give works on nomination basis to complete inter-village pipeline works and send their details to Collectorate within 10 days.

Mission Bhagiratha and RWS officials, Bodhan Sub-Collector Sikta Patnaik attended the review meeting.
