Officials told to complete works at Sundilla, Annaram by July end

Hyderabad: The ongoing civil works of Annaram and Sundilla barrage are likely to be completed by July end. Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao directed the officials concerned to complete fixing the pending gates numbering 45 of 66 at Annaram with weekly targets and get it ready by July end.

Reviewing the progress of Kaleshwaram project during field inspection of Package-6 works on Tuesday late night, Harish Rao asked BHEL authorities to avoid delay in fixing the motor pumps and wanted them to expedite the works. He spoke to BHEL technical advisor Narendra Kumar and Chief General Manager Yogendra Paul over telephone asking them to deploy expert engineers from UK to seal the motor shafts with precision. While two motor pumps are ready for fixing, two more motor pumps will be fixed in August and September respectively.

The Irrigation department officials informed that about 54 of total 66 gates designed to be fixed at Annaram have reach the construction site and of them about 21 have been already fixed. About 450 workers have been deployed exclusively for fixing the gates and the Minister wanted the officials to shift more workers and machinery from Medigadda site where the works are moving at fast pace. Similarly, all 74 gates to be fixed at Sundilla site are ready for installation and 23 of them have been already installed.

Chief Engineer Venkateshwarlu and contract agency officials accompanied the Minister during his visit. He directed them to obtain necessary machinery and equipment to fix the gates at the earliest.
