Yadadri-Bhongir: Civil Supplies Commissioner Akun Sabarwal on Tuesday directed the officials to take measure to immediately shift the procured paddy from the farmers at IKP Centres and market yards to mills.
Reviewing the paddy procurement of Rabi season in the district Collectorate, Akun Sabarwal has expressed satisfaction on procurement of the paddy in the district. He has also underlined the need to create awareness in the farmers on machines setup at the paddy purchasing centres for cleaning of the crop.
Farmers should be encouraged to bring the crop to the procurement centres after drying that would ensure Minimum Support Price, he added. He has also appreciated the officials for purchasing 100 per cent of the crop through IKP and PACS Paddy Procurement Centres in the district, he added.
He has also said that gunny bags and tarpaulin covers should be supplied to the paddy procurement centres in sufficient number during the purchase of the crop from the farmers.
He has also asked the officials to immediately shift purchased paddy to mill points.
He also inquired the officials about the issues of hamalis, shortage of tarpaulins and illegal transport of the paddy, which have came to his notice.
Joint Collector G Ravi informed that 1,38,783 metric tonnes of paddy was purchased from 20,388 farmers through 132 paddy procurement centres in the district. Rs 94 crore have been deposited in the bank accounts of the farmers for the purpose, he added.
District Civil Supplies Officer Sandhya Rani, District Marketing Officer Sarika and others were also attended the review meeting.
