OHE inspection car derails in Khammam, affects rail traffic

The incident caused disruption of rail traffic for several hours on the route.

Emergency team engaged in lifting the OHE car onto the tracks at Bonakal in Khammam district on Thursday.

Khammam: A railway Over Head Equipment (OHE) inspection and maintenance car derailed near Bonakal railway station on Khammam-Vijayawada route during the railway inspection, affecting several trains on the route in the district on Thursday.

The incident caused disruption of rail traffic for several hours on the route. Satahavahana Express and Golconda Express bound for Hyderabad were halted at Madhira and Yerrepalem railway stations respectively delaying their travel schedule.

Schedules of several other trains were also affected due to the derailment of the OHE car. Railway emergency team from Vijayawada was summoned and pressed into service to lift the OHE car onto the tracks and the entire operation took over three hours after which the traffic was resumed.
