Hyderabad: A delegate from Hyderabad protested when All India Muslim Personal Law Board secretary Maulana Wali Rahmani thanked Congress leaders and did not mention MIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s name in the annual report of the board for opposing Triple Talaq bill in Parliament.
Rahmani in his report mentioned and thanked Congress leaders Ahmed Patel, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma for opposing the bill. However, he left out the name of Owaisi, who had vehemently opposed the bill in the Lok Sabha.
Mateen Quadri from Tamir-e-Millat, who also a member of the Telangana State Public Service Commission, raised his voice and said that it was Asaduddin Owaisi who had objected to the bill in an aggressive manner. How could his name be omitted in the report and his relentless effort against the bill not be appreciated, he questioned.
With many others echoing Quadri’s stand, Wali Rahmani thanked him for pointing out the mistake.
