One killed, two injured as flood light at LB Stadium collapses in Hyderabad

At around 7 p.m heavy rains accompanied by strong gales lashed the city resulting in uprooting of trees at various places.

Hyderabad: Superintendent, GST Hyderabad Commissionerate, T. Satya Subramanyam was killed while his colleague in the same department M. Ramesh was injured when the one of the flood lights at LB Stadium collapsed due to heavy gales on Monday evening. Several vehicles were also damaged in the incident.

The injured person M. Ramesh was admitted to Care Hospitals, Nampally with a leg fracture and is out of danger while Satya Subramanyam was brought dead to the hospital. According to doctors, the the body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital (OGH) for conducting autopsy.

The scorching heat on Monday morning and afternoon gave way to a cloudy evening and at around 7 pm, heavy rains accompanied by strong gales lashed the city resulting in uprooting of trees at various places. Darkness plunged several areas of the city including Malkajgiri, Medchal, Secunderabad, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Santoshnagar, Dilsukhnagar and Abids.

The GHMC authorities were making efforts to clear the water logging and clear the roads of debris and tree branches. Teams of the Disaster Rescue Force of the GHMC were pressed into service. The Traffic police personnel and law & order cops were on the roads to streamline the traffic.

In another rain related incident, a 6-year-old boy at Chaderghat was killed when a shed collapsed, taking the death toll to two.
