Hyderabad: Congress MLA from Palair constituency in Khammam district Kandala Upender Reddy on Thursday announced that he was leaving the party and would soon join the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.
Upender Reddy becomes the sixth Congress MLA to announce his intention to join the TRS.
In a statement, Upender Reddy, who in the afternoon met with TRS working president KT Rama Rao, said he was convinced that there was no leader other than Chief Minister and TRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao with the vision and ability to develop the State on all fronts.
“During this period, when KCR is working hard for the development and progress of the State, I have decided to join hands with him and strengthen his leadership. Development of Khammam district and that of my constituency is paramount to me. I firmly believe that this will be possible only under KCR’s leadership,” Upender Reddy said.
He said people gave a tremendous victory to TRS in the last Assembly elections. “Along with the rest of the State, KCR has undertaken construction of irrigation projects that will benefit the entire Khammam district as well as my constituency. I am fully confident that under his leadership, Sitarama lift irrigation and Bhakta Ramadas irrigation projects will be completed on time. It is under KCR’s leadership that the State has witnessed unheard of improvement in power and drinking water supply which was never done previously,” he said.
