Being secular is what every country preaches but how to be secular is what a country like India perfectly proves. Being part of a secular country is an honour and Indians cherish this unique feature of our country, this was the opinion of speakers at a webinar session on secularism conducted by Pallavi Model School Alwal on the eve of Independence Day. PMS Alwal Principal Sunir Nagi presided over the virtual event.
Panelists representing various faiths like Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Sikhism and others were invited for the event.
PMS Boduppal Principal Tanuja and Pallavi International School, Gandipet Principal Mithali also to part in the session.
The tiny-tots from pre-primary conveyed a message of unity “I’m just like you” through a short video clip on unity in diversity. Students from various grades spoke on the religious diversity of India and how they live in a peaceful environment.
Speakers at the event said that secularism is a unique feature of the Indian Constitution which mandates the State to be away from any religious discourse. All religions are treated equally in a secular State. Harmony is the key to progress and this can be attained when people of different faiths live in peace.
