Hyderabad: Leaders of opposition parties met Governor ESL Narsimhan on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum demanding withdrawal of GO 39 issued by the State government facilitating constitution of Farmers Associations Coordination Committees (FACCs).

Batti Vikramarka and Batti Vikramarka (Congress), N Ramchander Rao (BJP), Chada Venkat Reddy (CPI), Professor Kodandaram (TJAC), TDP and New Democracy leaders were among the all-party delegation.

Later, speaking to the media, BJP MLC Ramchander Rao alleged that the GO was issued only to benefit Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) workers. “With the constitution of new FACCs, local bodies representatives would become powerless,” he said.

Professor Kodandaram said village level agitation programmes were planned on October 2 demanding scrapping of the GO, besides a dharna before the agriculture commissionerate on September 15.
