Kothagudem: Pinapaka MLA Rega Kantha Rao refuted Congress leaders’ statements claiming ownership of the TRS party office building at Manugur in the district.

A war of words ensued between the Congress and TRS leaders in the district over the ownership of the office space that once served as Congress party office at Manugur. Congress leaders alleged that the Pinapaka MLA encroached the building and converted it into a TRS office after he joined the ruling party.

Kantha Rao maintained that Congress Legislature party leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and any other leader in the district or in the State had no right to claim ownership of the office building. “The office building was constructed by me at my own expenditure. No Congress leader offered any support for the construction of the building and hence I changed it into the TRS office. If the building belongs to Congress, why did the party leaders conduct meetings elsewhere all these days?” he asked.

Refuting the claims by Vikramarka who said he supplied cement for the construction of the building, Kantha Rao stated that Vikramarka never offered a cup of tea to his party workers and no one would believe his words that he provided cement for the construction. The MLA further noted the office building was not the issue. Vikramarka wanted to create trouble for the TRS since he was unable to digest the development brought about by the State government, he added.

Kantha Rao also took exception to remarks made by former Union Minister Balaram Naik, Bhadrachalam MLA P Veeraiah and others while asserting that there was no Congress party in Pinapaka Assembly constituency.

Meanwhile tension prevailed for sometime at Manugur as Vikramarka, Balaram Naik, Bhadrachalam MLA P Veeraiah and others tried to stage a hunger strike at the TRS party office. The party leaders later submitted a memorandum to Municipal Commissioner Venkata Swamy asking him to look into the issue.
