Dogs are man’s best friends and the relationship that man and dog share cannot get any precious. Here, communication is the key just like in any other relationship. While dogs do their job pretty well in understanding humans, it is us who tend to miss out on certain things that they are trying to convey.

Now, be a good parent by knowing what some of the common gestures made by dogs mean.

Roll over

As common as it is for you as a dog owner to see your dog rolling over, exposing his/her belly, it’s not something you would find your dog doing in front of everybody. A dog exposing his/her belly is a sign of trust and that he is craving for some scratches. Your dog is asking you for some petting with this particular body language.

Paw hover

Do your ever wonder what your dog is trying to tell you by holding one paw in the mid-air? Of course, it is adorable, but, there is more to the story. When you find your pooch hovering his paw while in sitting position, it means that there is some object he desires and he wants you to give it to him.

Jump

Dog owners will know how dogs jump up and down the ground in same spot while serving food. This gesture which looks less like a jump and more like a tap dance means that he is saying either “give me the food” or “open the door”. So, when you have his meals part covered, that tap dance means that it’s time for a walk.

Nose press

Your dog’s adorable nose presses can mean many things and one of them is that he is craving for attention. Your dog wants you to either play with him or at least acknowledge his presence. You might find the dog doing this particular gesture when you are engaged in some task that doesn’t involve him for so long.
