Peddapalli: Instead of organizing parties to celebrate birthday, a group of youth donated blood to save lives of children suffering with Thalassaemia and dialysis. Twenty eight youngsters donated blood in Kolanur of Odela mandal on the occasion of their friend’s birthday on Friday.
A WhatsApp group named “Life Savers’ Group”, encourages blood donation and was recently approached by MGR voluntary blood bank.
There is an acute shortage of blood due to lockdown. Children and other patients suffering from Thalassaemia and dialysis have been facing troubles due to lack of blood. In that background, the MGR blood bank had approached the members of life severs’ group, who assured to arrange 30 units of blood on the occasion of the birthday of one of their friend Yasam Pradeep.
As promised, 28 members of the group donated blood on Friday besides cutting birthday cake of Pradeep in Kolanur of Odela mandal. Pradeep, who formed the group wherein there are 220 members, has been donating the blood to needy people during the last one year in the memory of his mother Aruna, who died ten years ago.
So far, 100 persons have been provided blood on behalf of the group. Speaking to Telangana Today, Pradeep informed that they provide blood to needy people voluntarily without accepting a single rupee. Except O negative and few others, all variety groups of blood were available in their what’s app group members.
