Hyderabad: Continuing its focus on attracting global collaboration centres (GCCs) or captive centres to Hyderabad, the State is in talks with several players. They are visiting Hyderabad to scout for a possible location and will announce their decisions shortly. Among others, beverage giant PepsiCo is setting up one of its largest business services hub in Hyderabad. “It has plans to launch its Hyderabad Centre in November,” Ranjan said adding that PepsiCo has selected Kokapet on the city outskirts as the location for its operations.
It may be recalled that Kokapet is now the focus of many developers as the western part of the city comprising Hitec City, Financial District and other areas are nearing saturation. The authorities have billed it as the next growth engine. There are plans for developing an integrated township with work clusters to accommodate about 5,00,000 personnel.
Kokapet also figures in plans to decongest Hyderabad by adopting a decentralised approach to develop economic engines. The township will be about 9 crore sqft and will be self-contained with social infra like roads, schools, hospitals, retail and commercial space and more. The new township is being developed by taking into account the learning from Hitec City project.
“PepsiCo will employ about 2,000 to 2,500 employees in phases,” Ranjan said about the beverage maker’s largest campus outside the US. The centre will focus on consumer insights, marketing, HR, finance, supply chain and others.
