Mancherial: Mamidala Prameela is an advocate by profession, but has multiple facets. She is teacher, an agent of social change and an activist of Telangana movement. She is one among the 24 eminent women from different fields who were selected by the State government for felicitation with an award on International Women’s Day. She was selected for this honour for carrying out different social service activities and also for taking part in the second phase of the struggle and agitation that took place for the formation of a separate State.
Prameela, a resident of Narspur Colony in Mancherial town, is a practicing as a lawyer. Similarly, she teaches Hindi language to students in a private school. She also took active participation in dharnas and protests taken up as part of Telangana movement. She floated a voluntary organisation called Sadashaya Foundation, in order to raise awareness among public over importance of organ donation, blood donation and eye donation, protection of environment and she sponsors education to scores of orphan girls every year by raising funds with the help of donors and philanthropists.
Prameela is relentlessly working hard for supporting abandoned girls and street children in making their dream of pursuing studies come true. She helped 110 visually challenged persons in getting eye sight with the help of 55 eye donors. She had gathered 300 units of blood through many blood donation camps which were organised by her foundation.
Above all, the advocate is offering legal aid to married women, who face hardships due to fallout in their family life, for free of cost. Several estranged females were provided help through her services. She has been striving hard for protecting the rights and self-respect of women and their empowerment as well. The State government has selected Prameela as the right person to win the award in view of this Women’s Day for rendering selfless services to the society and for playing a vital role in fighting for a separate State. She will receive the award at a programme to be held in Hyderabad on March 8.
